John Ooi has been married for almost four decades and has six adult children.  He has served in several organisations that support families and is author of two books - Learning to Love: Questions and Answers on Human Sexuality for Teenagers, and Balancing Work and Family and Enjoying It. Recently, John and his wife have also leveraged on their years of experience to become marriage coaches.

Currently retired, John used to work as a consultant to private education institutions to develop their quality assurance systems to meet the registration and certification requirements.  Before that, he served in a local polytechnic for 26 years, playing a major role in developing, documenting and running its quality system.  John holds degrees in engineering and education.  He was awarded the Public Administration Award (Bronze) by the President on National Day 2002.
