Philosophy

FES adheres to the belief that the family is the fundamental school of human values and social virtues. It is where parents play the role of primary educators, forming children in truth through words and good example. It is in the family where children learn to dialogue, understand and respect other people’s points of view. In the family, children first learn to yield their opinion when truth demands it; thus, learning how to be helpful and caring for others.

The family is the place where children are gradually taught to exercise and develop their freedom with personal responsibility. Consequently, this approach brings stability and solidarity to families living in society. Ultimately, it contributes to making society more cohesive.

FES is all about Building Loving & Lasting Families. This philosophy is best summarised in the following statements:

  • “Strong families are based on solid character formation of individuals.”

  • “The family is the original cell of social life, and family life is an initiation into life in society.”

  • “A healthy robust family is where members have a strong sense of social responsibility in helping their peers".

Dr Gerard Ee

Advisor to Family Enrichment Society

His career was as a Public Accountant until he retired on 30 June 2005. Post retirement he served mainly in the healthcare sector, starting with NKF, then chairing Changi General Hospital, and served as a Board member of SingHealth. He is currently a Board member of MOH Holdings, and Chairman of the Agency for Integrated Care.

He was the Group Chairman of all the entities under the Canossian Daughters of Charity. Currently he still chairs the Canossa School, a primary school for children with Hearing Impairment using the aural/auditory approach. He renders advice and assistance on an ad hoc basis to various missionary and charitable organisations. He has a grown up son who is still single and a daughter who was married during the COVID lockdown.

He is a Catholic from birth but started his spiritual development only after turning 40. In 2007 whilst preparing to be operated on for stage 3 colon cancer, he finally learnt to surrender to God and since then, find peace in all that he encounters.
